Mr Fitzgerald and two other former city council executives could face trial over fraud probe
A case file of evidence gathered on former Liverpool Council chief executive Ged Fitzgerald and two other ex-council executives has been handed to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Mr Fitzgerald – who resigned from the council in May – was arrested on suspicion of witness intimidation and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice last year along with former council execs Phil Halsall and David McElhinney and the current leader of Lancashire County Council Geoff Driver.
The arrests came as part of a long-running fraud probe called Operation Sheridan which is looking into alleged irregularities at Lancashire Council’s joint communications venture with BT, One Connect.
