Previously called The ‘Darren the Defector’ Files, this page has been renamed, The ‘Daz the Defector’ Files to reflect the fact that Daz is trying all he can to get some working class credentials. We would have thought the truth about his humble beginnings would have done that nicely!
This page will carry all the information known to us about Darren, ‘the defector’, Hughes, the Councillor elected in 2008 as a Conservative, who later jumped ship and joined Labour after being recruited by Jahangir Akhtar, to whom he is loyal to this day! Much to the consternation of his Anston & Woodsetts Ward constituents!
Robin Stonebridge the defeated Labour Councillor in 2008, was said to be unhappy at this turn of events and must be similarly unhappy, now that Darren Hughes is the endorsed Labour Candidate this May, one could easily imagine?
It was this election in 2008 that was responsible for this blog getting going in the first place, it was a pivotal moment in Rotherham Political history and marked the major stirring of anti-Labour sentiment in Rotherham.
