Labour harassment inquiry will look into second ‘suicide’

The death of a second Labour Party figure will be referred to an internal inquiry already under way into how the party deals with allegations of sexual misconduct, sources said yesterday.

Staff at the party’s headquarters in London were told on Thursday that a colleague had died but were asked not to discuss it outside the building.

Labour confirmed last night that a member of staff had “died suddenly and unexpectedly” but declined to release the man’s name. According to The Sunday Times the Labour staffer, who was in his early 30s, appears to have taken his own life after being suspended from his job over allegations involving pornography.
