  1. Scott Hesketh also writes:
“In the last council elections Akhtar lost by 30 votes despite winning the postal vote by 5,000.” Could this true when his total vote as only 1,528?
With Maureen Vines being elected with 1,567 votes, Akhtar actually lost by 39 vote, closer to 40 than 30.

  2. Sarah Champion was CEO of Bluebell wood hospice from 2008 to 2012. Bearing in mind she was dealing with the most vulnerable in society, shouldn’t she have been well aware of CSE across Rotherham to ensure that these children were fully protected. Sarah likes us to believe that she isn’t one of these career politicians and her father was a working class man, but I believe she is part of the common purpose team and to be very wary of her. I can’t find anything on the internet to say where Sarah grew up for the first 20 years of her life? I do know Jane Collins comes from Doncaster and was the daughter of a miner. “What does Jane Collins know, that would make people want to send her death threats?”

    • Bluebell wood hospice takes in children from all across south yorkshire, but people working there also support children right across south yorkshire and go into families homes to support them, where there are other children. If there was a major threat to the vulnerability of children whether able or not able bodied, then I would have thought there would have been overlap and concerns about the most vulnerable in society and also other children in the family that workers come into contact with. Bearing in mind that Bluebell wood was in Rotherham borough they should have been fully aware of this issue across the borough. I saw behind the scenes how it effects a family who uses Bluebell wood hospice, for about 6 months. The problem is the police, council and social workers deal with things as though they are separate entity, not part of a bigger picture. I had issues with a stalker for three months and wanted the police to involve the social services so that the real issue could be dealt with, rather than locking this chap up, but they do everything in isolation.

  3. There is no reason Sarah champion, in her role at Bluebell Wood, would know about the CSE cases that have been uncovered in the Jay report. There is no reason why any member of staff at Bluebell wood would know. The only information on children who are at risk would be on the ones using Bluebell wood. But why let facts get in the way of a good smear story? Using CSE to score policital points like rothervalleyukipsupported as is sick.

    • ….and just why was this topic on Jane Collin’s death threats and the postal votes for Akhtar turned into one about Sarah Champion by rothervalleyUKIPsupporter ?

      • Regular reader. Your first post digressed from the main title and mentioned Jane Collins appearing on the politics show. Bearing in mind that she was appearing with Sarah Champion I thought I would digress. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

    • I was speaking to a lady in the resource centre in Dinnington Friday, she said she had some evidence years ago from training she did while working for the borough, that would prove that they new well in advance of the Jay report and covered it up. She said it was well known throughout the borough. Her husband is going into the loft to get the prove down.

  4. It is sad, indeed outrageous that anyone receives death threats. I disagree with many things Ms Collins says and does on some certain issues – but she has a right to speak without harassment. I hope they can find who has threatened Ms Collins (or anyone else who threatens anyone) quickly.

I have lived in many places in my life (some seemingly more violent than Rotherham) but I have found the nastiness, hatred and personal nature of politics in Rotherham to be the worst I have experienced – and that includes well before the CSE scandal arose. Indeed – when travelling the country and asked about the state of politics in Rotherham (before the CSE) my reply was often ‘In Rotherham? it would be a good idea but there’s too much shouting, hatred and stupid personal scores.’

Like I said, I often (and most likely will do again) find Ms Collins’s policies not to my way of thinking, but may she and her loved ones stay safe and the bullies (whoever they bully) be found and punished severely.

Voltaire was only partially right when he said, “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.” The prospect of death, or death threats, should not be a consideration when it comes to voicing an opinion. All views should be respected even when questioned.

As for questioning Bluebell Wood’s role. I find that it strange. (I am being polite) And a total diversion which I reckon is not down to official UKIP. (Indeed I know they would distance themselves from this)

Like RR I have had to use this amazing organisations on a personal level. The support we all received was beyond explanation; I just hope others don’t have to experience it. And that is praise not a criticism – if you get my true meaning and gratitude for what they did and still do. If only all organisations were as caring, open, professional and dedicated as them.

I saw Ms Champion and Ms Collins on the BBC North debate toady. I have comments and issues to raise but that can be done later. All I can say on this thread is whoever threatened her (or threatens anyone) you are not just a threat a threat to an individual you are a threat to democracy itself.

    • SKT, just to clarify, I have no actual personal experience of Bluebell Woods, but a lot of understanding of the voluntary sector involved both people of disability and those involved in disaster relief.
It amazes me that, from just an idea, such a brilliant thing could have grown and become established and hopefully financially secure in such a short period of time – particularly with all the current financial constraints. It’s inspirational.
(I spent a lot of summer 2012 helping to clear up the mess after a long established and valued charity went bankrupt . )

“but I have found nastiness, hatred and personal nature of politics in Rotherham to be the worst I have experienced”
Without trivialising your comments, you have seen nothing until you come to Anston Parish Council. The antics of the Members of the Labour Party are beyond belief. I have been subjected to continuous Bullying, discrimination and Intimidation, mainly by Cllrs Beck, Dalton Stonebridge and St John. since I was elected in 2009. Indeed Cllr St John at the last meeting before I was Elected to office said, “If he gets elected, we will have to put him in front of the Standards Board”.
These people have been named to the Monitoring Officer Mrs Collins, and nothing has been done. Anston has had almost 40 complaints against Cllrs, almost all of them against Labour Cllrs, including complaints against Cllr Beck, whilst he was serving on the Standards Committee, and guess what Only the Independent Cllr (me) has been placed under Investigation.
This refusal to confront allegations of Bullying at Rotherham is endemic, and its part of the whole sorry state they find themselves in now.
I am quite sure you will hear more about the antics of Labour Party Members at Anston in the very near future.
Labour Regional Office please take note. (or you may want to start investigating now)

  6. SKT I wasn’t questioning Bluebells role. Sarah Champion was already working in the borough of Rotherham before she took over as an MP in Rotherham central. Wouldn’t there be a degree of training involved in child protectionism and understanding the risks in the wider community of Rotherham borough. I worked in Telecom’s for 15 years, yes you understood your bit, but you also had to understand the bigger picture as well, probably I am alien to how things work in the public sector and how unholistic it is. Rothervalley UKIP supporter in no way implies that I follow UKIP dogma, I believe in a fairer society for all and UKIP is only a stepping stone on the way. I just believe that UKIP is less worse than the other three main parties and there are many facets of it that I feel uncomfortable with.

  7. I wonder how many non de plumes Tim is going to have now gone from anstonindependent to Rothervalleyukipsupporter, still a rose by any other name. What utter drivel he writes about Bluebell Wood and how insulting to those who work there and need to use it. He makes no valid points when trying to attack Sarah Champion, if this is the best you can do Tim I would keep my mouth shut. Don’t bother replying to me I wont answer.

  8. Having worked in charity sector for 10 years and received child protection training it didnt touch on the kind of gang grooming patterns we are talking about in any way whatsoever and I dont think any Bluebell training would have touched on what might have actually been happening in the community and its extent.

  9. Well said Dave. I don’t often agree with your views but on this occasion you are absolutely right! It’s a disgrace to even suggest that those wonderful people at Bluebell Wood have anything to answer for.
