She has left no one in doubt as to how she feels about this, but it is the same old RMBC slash the jobs of vital workers whilst keeping their noses firmly in the trough. What are the commissioners doing for their £800 a day; using the excuse they can’t interfere in the budget; so why don’t they go back to the government for extra powers so they can. These councillors are the numpties who have been given some of their powers back; I wouldn’t even give them the power of speech never mind running Rotherham.

Most Labour members, supporters and real socialists deplore them carrying out tory cuts on our communities.

Everybody, every council, is having to cut back on services. It’s been like that for ages, however Ms Champion, before whinging about theses cuts, should ask herself one question. Would these cuts to public services for every community, be as severe if it wasn’t for CSE.?
Perhaps she should reflect on the additional costs of having commissioners running a council, employing all those new heads if departments, like Ian Thomas, Children Services, his mate who runs the Children Care Homes. What about all the other new staff that’s been taken on. How much did it cost, getting rid of all those bums, who was running the show before and pretending CSE didn’t exists. Bet they all left with healthy pay offs.
The costs of restructuring these depts, new training etc etc etc. What about the extra money of Policing. Perhaps she should be asking her good friends, the Pakistani’s groomers, to make a contribution.

Has UKIP suggested any amendments to the Budget or will it do so?

Thought with the election season getting underway, you would make a return. Rotherham Labour’s on-line rottweiler in chief.
Try addressing the topic at hand, rather than employing simple diversionary tactics.

I think UKIP came up with some ideas to slash spending on goodies like the Mayors car and spend on cleaning up our communities and cutting grass. Couldn’t make a worse mess than the Labour controlled RMBC have since taking over in 1975. Hopefully this year voters of RMBC will wake up and smell the coffee.

Well done Sarah Champion, asking for a reasonable ask, didn’t our cllr’s and our commissioners agree to protect youth/children’s services and the good folk of Rotherham.
I am beginning to see some commentators on here are not being truthful with what they know, and the proposed cuts.
Sarah is a member of parliament, she doesn’t run RMBC, she represents her constituents in all aspects locally, nationally and internationally.
Maybe some people need to read up the role of an MP, I am sure if you can comment on here you could also press the same buttons and be productive on Googling some results and become wiser.
The cutbacks cannot be used in future to explain any shortfall in absolutely ‘necessary’ situations.
PCC Alan proposed an increase in police funding from the local rate payers, I think around 300 over the next 3 yrs new police officers. Very good!
Oh very good, weren’t there some commentators on here who were over the moon that with out their input £5.3million to protect essential services wouldn’t have been possible.
Political point scoring! Very cheap I see.
We your electorate are not as dumb as we look, oh wise ones.
So why is there a gap in funding essential services! Mr.
Oh sorry, I remember to recall most of the shortfalls in public finances are to be balanced with parking charge increases ( this cash cow has been teetering on near extinction of the town centre for a number of years ).
Is there a special book, of sayings and doings for Cllr’s!

Cuts should commence with the number of councillors and then their remuneration. I reckon a 33% reduction in numbers and 20% reduction in remuneration would do…..for starters.

Have you suggested this to RMBC ? If not do so.

Note that: RMBC must apply to the Boundary Commission for a reduction in the number of councillors, they cannot decide this for themselves.
With 21 wards, each with 3 councillors ether your 33% reduction to 2 councillors per ward OR alternatively a reduction in the number of wards are well worth suggesting.
Remuneration is however decidable directly by RMBC.
IMHO Area Assemblies should also be scrapped.

Considering some of the councillors do nothing at all while they are in office a cut would be a good idea as far as renumeration goes they are no better than the mp’s whilst we still have a labour majority they will vote to increase renumeration they should show people how much they would do for the borough by taking a cut
