  1. Detective Superintendent David Barraclough, head of South Yorkshire Police’s professional standards department, said: “In South Yorkshire, we expect our officers to behave with integrity and professionalism and take very seriously any reports of wrongdoing.

“It is right for the public to expect the highest of standards from us. It only takes the actions of a few to tarnish the reputation of those who work incredibly hard every day to protect the public.

“Our position reflects the national picture in that the majority of our dismissals are as a result of internal conduct investigations. This demonstrates a real willingness and determination to report, confront and deal with unacceptable behaviour within the police service.

“Consequently, we have been successful at identifying criminal and corrupt officers from within and will continue to publicise misconduct findings and court cases on our website and social media.”

Right, so if SYP have been sucessful at identifying CRIMINAL and CORRUPT officers within their ranks, how many of them have been charged? Have any of them even been arrested? Or is simply adding their names to the “disapproved” register supposed to be a fitting punishment?
