  1. 5 and 6 figure sums? So some are less than £100,000? For years of rape and torture aided and abetted by RMBC. And this is good news?

  2. The taxpayers of Rotherham are to pay for the misdeeds and incompetence of those who were guilty of misconduct in public office and the sexual depravity of criminals.
The assets of all those responsible should be seized and placed in a fund as SMALL recompense for the damage that that they have caused to lives of the victims.
Instead of which, it is the scum who were in public office who are given 5 and 6 figure sums and the criminals are now kept at public expense and given legal aid amounting to millions of pounds.. This is an absolute disgrace and an indication that we need a change in the law to make public officials and criminals truly accountable.

If only! The compensation payments are NOT being paid by council bosses and police. They are being paid by you and me – income tax and council tax payers. I assume that both the RMBC and SYP have admitted liability so when do we find out which councillors, council staff and police officers were culpable and what is going to happen to them? Isn’t there something called misconduct in public office?
