Twelve to go on trial over child sex abuse

TEN men charged with historic child sex offences against nine girls have pleaded not guilty to all the offences.

The defendants were today split into two separate trials and will stand trial next year at Sheffield Crown Court.

A trial expected to last eight weeks will begin on September 3, 2018, and will feature the following defendants who are charged with a total of 24 offences which took place between 1998 to 2003 against four girls:

Mohammed Imran Ali Akhtar — four counts of indecent assault, supplying a controlled drug to another, rape, procuring a girl to have unlawful sexual intercourse with another, aiding and abeting Tanweer Ali to rape, sexual assault.

Ten face trial in Rotherham sex abuse case

Ten men are to stand trial accused of raping and sexually abusing eight teenage girls in Rotherham.

The men, aged between 33 and 38 and all from South Yorkshire, are charged with a total of 33 offences said to have taken place between 1998 and 2005.

They were charged as part of National Crime Agency’s investigation into historical child abuse in Rotherham.

The men, who deny the charges, will stand trial at Sheffield Crown Court in September and November 2018.
