Home Secretary Amber Rudd met a selection of relatives at Liverpool Town Hall in surprise gathering
Campaigners said the sudden government break-up of a specially established Hillsborough family liaison group was “disappointing.”
A selection of families of the 96 Liverpool fans who died in the 1989 disaster were invited to a “secret” meeting at Liverpool Town Hall two weeks ago.
Heavy security was in place for the gathering, which Home Secretary Amber Rudd attended – to the surprise of many Hillsborough relatives in the room.
The ECHO can reveal Ms Rudd informed them the family liaison group, which works with families and the Home Office, was to be disbanded within two months.
