Child sex abuse trial: Defendant “thought girls were over 16”

A MAN accused of sexually abusing three girls told a court he had sexual intercourse with them – but he never thought they were younger than 16.

Mohammed Imran Akhtar (37), of Godstone Road, Rotherham, is on trial at Sheffield Crown Court accused of eight child sexual exploitation offences against three girls between 1998 and 2005.

Akhtar and seven other men are standing trial at Sheffield Crown Court accused of 27 offences mostly relating to child sexual exploitation between 1998 and 2005.

The charges are part of the National Crime Agency’s investigation into historic CSE in the town — dubbed Operation Stovewood — between 1997 and 2013.

Child sex abuse trial: Defendant denies claims over street confrontation

A MAN accused of sexually abusing three teenage girls has denied claims that the reason he confronted one of them years later was because his past was coming to “bite him in the a***”.

Mohammed Imran Akhtar (37), of Godstone Road, Rotherham, is on trial at Sheffield Crown Court accused of eight offences against three girls between 1998 and 2005.
