Eric Pickles tells councils to stop spending money on expensive leadership courses

Eric Pickles, the Communities Secretary, has called for councils to stop spending money on expensive leadership courses at a time when frontline services are stretched.

The advice was contained in a booklet, 50 Ways to Save, which features ideas from Mr Pickles on how to make deeper cuts without affecting public services, a newspaper reported.

It singled out courses run by Common Purpose, a charity which encourages networking among its graduates and has been described by critics as “the Left’s version of the old boys’ network”.

It’s also coupled with various items of had-right Tory political dogma that seems to believe councils are wasting fortunes on bottled water, Common Purpose and trade unions.

28. End expensive ’leadership’ courses: Councils could review spending money on sending staff and councillors to expensive “leadership” training courses, such as Common Purpose. Such training courses can often run into tens of thousands of pounds.

  1. There have been once or twice when I have found myself agreeing with Pickles. On the issue of Common Purpose, until it’s true purpose is established no more courses or other monies should be paid to this rather shady organisation.
The only other time was when he stated that bloggers had the same status as journalists, on local newspapers. Well, I will try this out and see what happens?

That lad will do for me in his crusade against the junketing-mad Barmy Laybah Left Wing Corn Fed Grunters, Muppets and Clowns who bled this country almost dry under Tonee Bliar’s semblance of a Government.
