‘A lot of men abused these girls’
As the manager of Risky Business, a youth work programme in Rotherham, Jayne Senior reported nearly 1,700 cases of grooming or child sexual exploitation in the town over a decade and a half.
Frustrated by the inability of the authorities to protect these extremely vulnerable children or to bring to justice the criminal gangs responsible for grooming and abusing them, she risked imprisonment by secretly leaking confidential documents to Andrew Norfolk of The Times. In a series of articles he exposed the scandal, revealing how both the police and social services had been aware of the abuse of children but failed to take appropriate action.

This has got to be the most ( can’t find the words) thing I have ever read and that it was happening in what was once civilised England and not darkest Africa is … Anyone…. police councilors… social workers (eye witness) who stood in the way of immediate rescue of children; hampered and intimidated parents should endure same penalty as the perpatrators…. (It’s old fashion name is the sin of omission) Heads should roll and the informed councilors who either couldn’t or wouldn’t do what any moral human ought to do should get their ass permantly out of council chambers and spend the rest of their lives trying to redeem themselves for moral cowardice…..

Once, I think in about 1997 I was drinking coffee at the table of a woman Rotherham Councilor. It wasn’t a political visit she was a friend of a relative of mine who introduced me….I think they talked local politics … She knows who she is and she still warms the seat in Council chambers…… By her own admission in council chambers she admitted she knew…( I saw it on webcast)
I remembered her biting words as I was leaving her home…. Possibly my latent paranoia but I felt they were directed at me…She hated zealots…. Pity, don’t you think…..

Need to correct my dates…Don’t think it was a 1997 visit to Rotherham when I had coffee at the councilors home…I think it would have been an early 2000 and something visit.

Sorry Greg, Can you enlighten me a bit…..Not sure what you mean….
Her admission in council chambers was that she and other Councilors where informed collectively in a meeting . Got to give her a tick here though…. As far a my memory tells me… she was the only one at the time that put her hand up.

She and one other only admitted it after pressure from opposition Councillors
And I mean they are very very close to their MPs so one would think it was discussed surly

Rik, Please allow me a little gloat here….For Greg…..It just brings back memories of discussions I had when in Rotherham last….I was challenged one night by a RMBC councillor over a few Bayleys that people with my beliefs “did nowt”. He was referring to community involvement and making peoples lives better through their own particular brand of politics. You know the sort of thing…. “Labour is for the working man…Conservative views on anything important warrant the best insults they can fish out of their arsenal of insults…….Well, that old, old proverb ‘ Pride cometh before a fall ‘ rings true for RMBC councilors . All the time these vile goings on with the children and families of Rotherham was never brought up in conversation…
I am of course open to be challenged on Rothpol by those concerned if my memory of details is a bit fuzzy.

Sorry Rik… The point is the exploitation of children in Rotherham and this is my first hand knowledge of discussions with people who knew and never raised it as important when discussing local or any politics with me even though they were in the middle of it all…. For me you see, the puzzle has finally come together and , finally, todays heading for discussion energizes me blow the whistle…. Sorry about the gloating bit… I’ll try to do better….

A lot of what Jayne Senior reported to SYP happened at the same time we had the Welsh re-tread Meredydd Hughes as Ch.Constable.(2004-2011)
Keith Vaz (HASC):”The committee doesn’t accept that you didn’t know anything about child grooming in your area.”
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-29125890.
Hughes keeps his pension, RMBC councillors keep their jobs, vulnerable young children lost their innocence and childhoods.
This is justice?

JAYNE SENIOR WAS ON BREAKFAST TV THIS MORNING SPEAKING OVER OUR TOWN.
THE PEOPLE WHO SAT ON THEIR HANDS AND SAID NOWT ARE STILL RAKING IN TAXPAYERS MONEY.
THERE WAS A WHOLESALE FAILURE & NEGLIGENCE TO PROTECT YOUNG PEOPLE?
A COVERUP ON AN INDUSTRIAL SCALE
NO DUTY OF CARE?
FAILURE TO SAFEGUARD?
FAILURE TO WARN PUBLIC OF RISKS?
DAMAGED COMMUNITY COHESION DUE TO THEIR FAILINGS?
THE VICTIMS LABELLED & DISMISSED?
Many of the vile oppressors no doubt still on the street.
Whilst the police and serving Cllrs continue in their jobs. Regardless of accountability and justice for inaction.

Weird how Cllrs, council and police officers and even family members who are Cllrs never raised the issue over 20 years on such a serious matter?
Never raised at liaison meetings ?
