Corbyn vs Eagle some local reaction

ON 11TH JULY, 2016 “THE STAR” (SHEFFIELD) PUBLISHED THE FOLLOWING LETTER RECEIVED FROM VETERAN LABOUR COUNCILLOR PETER PRICE, SHEFFIELD CITY COUNCIL.
I WILL FIGHT FOR CORBYN!

I am sorry to do this but i am afraid I cannot support the line taken by my friend and colleague Angela Smith MP regarding the Leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn (Star News july 6)
I believe her action in calling for our Leader to stand down is disgraceful and outrageous.Jeremy Corbyn has not  `lost the confidence` of his Party.Indeed it is the very oppposite,it is our MPs organising this Coup who have lost the confidence of the Party
I also include Louise Haigh MP, who also voted in the no-confidence motion. It is less than 10 months ago that Jeremy Corbyn won a landslide victory in our Leadership Election, the highest majority ever recorded.I was elated – here we had a man of principle, who was refreshingly different, told it as he saw it and answered questions without the slick politician waffle all looking and sounding the same.
I thought: “Let`s give him a chance.”Yet, Angela within two hours of that result went on the radio saying that she would not accept any position under Corbyn Since then Labour MPs have tried to undermine him, telling the media and everyone who would listen, that he is unelectable (unlike  our previous leader Ed Miliband) and were forecasting a disastrous Year with four by-elections, four mayoral electiions, all-out local government elections and the EU Referendum,
It was very clear tha there would a move to oust him if the Party failed in any of those. However, the very opposite happened – Labour won all four by-elections comfortably, three with an increased share of the vote. In the local elections Labour held its own and increased slightly on those last held under Miliband`s leadership. Labour had also gone ahead in the National Opinion Polls. When the ~Referendum results were announced they decided to blame him for the result, in spite of the fact that almost 70 per cent of Labour voters across the country voted to Remain. In his own Constituency the Remain Vote was more than 70 per cent but in Angela`s Constituency the Vote was 70 per cent for Out. How she and other MPs can blame him for that result escapes me. The fact is because of Jeremy the Labour Party Membership has increased to a record level with many young first-time voters joining, full of optimism. For the first time in years the Labour Party is attracting young people and it is something Angela and others should be capitalising on, not destroying. I have been a member of the Labour Party for more than 55 years and the only time I  hsve felt disgusted with our Labour Members of Parliament was when they voted for the Iraq War At a time when the Tories are in clear difficulties our Members of Parliament had an opportunity to realy put the boot in and surge ahead, but they decided it is more important to organise this Coup and split the Party. hese MPs do not speak for me or I quess the vast majority of Labour Party Members and I for one will do my best to fight for Jeremy to remain our leader and bring us a refreshingly different type of Leadership which I am convinced given half a chance will wincover the electorate.

and:

Mutiny in the Labour party

It has been reported that Jeremy Corbin faces a full-blown coup attempt by members of Labour’s shadow cabinet and “mutinous” parliamentary Labour Party. Apparently, they are of the opinion that it is Jeremy’s fault that millions of Labour voters ignored their leader’s advice to vote in favour of continued membership of the EU.

The sniping at Jeremy is nothing new and the people involved have, at every opportunity, demonstrated their contempt for the 59.5 percent of the membership who voted to make Jeremy leader of the Labour Party by attacking him. Many of these dissidents are the very people who have contributed to us losing the last two elections and, in the past, have lost us many of our long serving Labour members, including our Scottish support, because of their past, and continuing, conservative attitudes and policies when in, and out of, government. For many of us, Jeremy’s election was a very welcome breath of fresh air and I know that many disaffected members returned to the Party because of his election.

  1. Will Ged and david tandey force the deselection of our three phantom MP’s?
They are, according to DT’s analysis, ‘red tories’.
Will RMBC Labour councillors who do not openly support Comrade Corbyn also face deselection?

    We should be told.
