More than 50 officers from across the country are to join the huge criminal investigation into the Rotherham child abuse scandal.
The National Crime Agency, which is running Operation Stovewood, is looking to hire 51 police officers on two-year secondments from their current jobs.
The agency is expanding the size of its investigation team to 117 people.
Nine arrests have been made so far as part of the investigation, which is focused on allegations of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013 – the period covered by the Jay report which estimated there were at least 1,400 victims in the town.
Why is it upto 2013 ? It’s still going on now on a massive scale in rotherham that’s why the council r asking youth workers to go out on buses to talk to all kids

Why isn’t it from before 1997?
What is the point of social workers on buses?
“Wooden” you think of looking for kids in taxis?

Probly to talk to the kids make friends with them in the hope they will have confidence to talk to them about there life , no idea why not before 97 but if it’s still happening now I think trying to stop it now is the way to go , wooden ? Ok “tosspot”

Why couldn’t the Council and these Youth workers, set up some form of online forum, where these kids could speak to them anonymously. Remember these perverts, friends and family also use buses.

So ” It’s still going on now on a massive scale in rotherham ” ?
Ok then , get your mobile phone out and go and film it and put it on the internet.
I think the expression is ” we have the technology” – so go and use it instead of making such unsubstantiated statements on forums.

Whilst I wouldn’t rule out that strategy, if it became necessary, I don’t endorse this form of approach when recent news shows the police are taking things seriously now.

You think ? The NCA do not exactly have a resounding record of success do they ?
And of course, you can film any activity if you are standing in a public place. There are limitations, but they wouldn’t apply to these situations.

Filming is one thing, publication another thing entirely?

Who mentioned publication ?
The purpose of filming is for evidence and leverage.
Anyway, as a matter of interest, filming for a production of “Street scenes around Rotherham” is not an offence and not in breach of any law since there are no injunctions on such an activity.

Well not coming from Rotherham and not knowing the “hot spots” like you locals, just exactly how am I supposed to be doing this ?
Put up mor shut up – I assume that you KNOW from your own local knowledge and that you have a mobile phone ?

Maybe your “youth worker” should be a new whistleblower then ?
Actually I think you’re a s**t-stirrer – talks the talk but doesn”t walk the walk.

Desperate situations require desperate responses….Filming unlawful behavior is IMV as acceptable as a citizens arrest…. People being mindful their vile behaviour going on the world wide web (whether it’s intended or not) may be enough for them to ” not even think about it”….
Put the breeze up them I say….. Please consider….Have all the’ highly paid’ professionals done a better job….?
In the case of Mr Vaz’s having his voice and image on the web has been enough for him to step down from his High Place that not even his fellow politicians or police could achieve. A couple of rent boys did the job for them….
I’m with you Tom

If anyone on here is friends with any youth workers can you just ask them if what I said is true . I’ll not comment on this thread anymore

Woody, you are unfortunately correct, child sexual exploitation is still happening today!
Until I am able to report otherwise, we must keep the pressure on for this to change.

My bet is Tom after the initial response to youth workers on buses with cheesy grins and routine greetings of ‘g’day, how are ya going’ and then quizzing the kids ,they will eventually see them coming and …..clam up…….!

For Woody….Hope you won’t mind reading the ramblings of a granny who cares about what is happening in Rotherham and unfortunately throughout the western world…I have 17 grandchildren and I care about the world and society our children have inherited from my generation. To explain how the situation in Rotherham came about and elsewhere would take a book Woody.
However the desperate need of the times is a solution to the rape and abuse and sometimes murder of a generation of children…
The police and social workers are bound by rules of ‘tolerance to villains’ by Governments and agencies who are scared stiff of being branded racist, misogynists, homophobics, Islamaphobics and all the other phobics added almost daily to the list.
People will mature to be either self regulated and/or others who do what is right in their own eyes regardless of the opinions of the rest of society. The latter need to be controlled by the rule of law which must have punishment and deterrent as well as rehabilitation..
Some of my family lived in Singapore for 10 years…. A very safe place for law biding citizens and very UNSAFE for villains. Yesterday I was talking to a wise old Chinese man from Singapore. Second offenders very very rare in that country.. Why.? because punishment fits the crime. Certain crimes are punished by doctor supervised strokes of the cane called the ‘rotan’ Very very painful and never to be forgotten I am told.
Politics in many Western Countries will not consider this as a solution neither will they admit they don’t have one. They would not consider studying how a country like Singapore could be transformed from a poor third world country to what is now a clean , prosperous and safe country for it’s inhabitants of different races and religions…All this achieved in one generation.
Social Workers on buses Woody won’t do it…. Weak solutions by weak governments who are now desperate to appear to be doing something …..They think chucking money (tax payers of course) will solve the problem. It probably won’t and they know it….
Self discipline is always the better way and can even be achieved in the mind and heart of a villain… And this can be found in The Golden Rule. (if you don’t know where that can be found Woody ask somebody) Applicable to all generations for all time .
Hope followed by disappointment has been Rotherhams legacy for a long time…
Would be great if 50 police officers and social workers on buses would restore peace and safety in Rotherham. I have my doubts….But I respect your concern which I think is sincere……
